Read more about what Princess Day is all about and how you or your friends can take part in being a princess for a day.
Learn about Princess Day
Who doesn’t dream of being a princess? And, if you don’t, maybe you dream about falling in love with one? Princess Day is all about celebrating just how fabulous we all are and pampering ourselves. We all deserve to be treated like princesses, even if it is just for a day! Princesses often tend to be associated with beautiful fairytales as well, so why not use this day to make your dreams come true? If there is something you have wanted to do for quite some time, make your heart’s desire a reality.
Do you know that the first-ever princess to come onto our screens was Snow White? She graced our televisions in 1937. Since then, there have been a lot of princesses on television! This includes everyone from Rapunzel to Sleeping Beauty. You are not going to be short of princesses to admire on this day. There have also been a new wave of princesses in recent times as well, like Elsa from Frozen and Moana. These characters have shown us that you can be a princess while also being independent, which is an important message.
History of Princess Day
When people think of princesses, they mostly think of the Disney princesses that have all the feminine traits that you can think of. However, the term princess did not come into use until the 18th century with King George I. Before that, many of the wives of prices would be referred to as “Lady so-and-so”. Once Disney brought in their first princess story, Snow White, it all went down in history as princesses and their stories were brought to life by the most famous family entertainment company in the world.
Princess Day itself, however, was not inspired by the Disney company. Instead, it was brought in by a smaller company, Nest Entertainment, which decided to work with Sony Entertainment to develop one of the last hand-drawn stories, The Swan Princess. The franchise itself has over 8 movies that are over 80 minutes long, and these stories were based on the Russian folk tales of Swan Lake. The franchise has since founded this holiday to help children celebrate their imagination and embody the kindness and joy that each child beholds when they think of princesses.
How to celebrate Princess Day
Help children everywhere know how easy it is to be a princess by letting everyone know that it’s Princess Day! Host a party and play dress up. Set up a theater show in your house and tell a story of a princess in the joy and turmoils of love and truth. If you’re an adult and love the idea of princesses, then have a party with your friends and talk about famous female figures in history who were also princesses. Share with your friends on social media and let everyone know what day it is today using the hashtag #princessday.
There are a lot of different ways that you can celebrate Princess Day. The main aim here is to act like a princess! Make sure that you remind the world of just how fabulous you are.
